KESKES JOINERY LIMITED - AIRDRIE, LA

We hired KesKes Joinery for a full kitchen renovation job. They agreed to start on a Wednesday and didn't show up, only to reply around 4:00PM that they had an issue with their van's livery. They showed up on Thursday and told us they wouldn't come on Friday either, so they proposed to come on Sunday instead. I texted them on Sunday at 8:30 am (they told me they would be at home at that time) and they answered saying they were loading timber on their van and will be on their way shortly, only to show up FOUR HOURS later. No answering the phone in between and no apologies. Once here, we ASKED them exactly four questions: a) if they could ask their electrician which amperage he recommended for the cooker socket, 30 or 48 amps b) if the switches for the appliances needed a fuse or not due to the system we wanted to install c) if putting plasterboard on top of a wall wouldn't be an issue to access a pipe that served the boiler (it was a question) d) if they wouldn't mind to have an engineer to come and see a nasty crack we discovered in one of the walls (being a 100+ years old property, I wanted to be sure that crack was not a serious issue) They said OK to everything, carried on working only to half an hour later tell us they didn't want to continue with our job. Their only explanation was that they did not trust us. When asked for a more thorough answer they struggled to explain themselves and finally said they felt that because we decided to choose to buy the tiles, lights, switches and kitchen cabinets ourselves instead of letting them buy the stuff for us and for that simple question about the plasterboard, we were micromanaging them! Coincidentally that same morning they asked us for a payment advance (because they didn't want to have a contract even after asking them repeatedly there was no payment schedule setup) and we told them there was no issue giving them an advance but that we'll need an invoice. I don't know if they wanted to rip us off charging exorbitant fees for the kitchen fittings or if they wanted to do everything under the table instead of paying taxes. We told them we were going to be buying the fittings, switches, tiles and appliances ourselves when discussing the job and we made clear we wanted to have their work invoiced. Whatever the reason they are completely unprofessional. They left us with an unusable kitchen, removed all alarms (co2, smoke, etc, security hazard!) without refitting before leaving, with bricks exposed and even some missing with a hole in the floor and the ceiling for the only bit of work they've done! We have another two rooms in the house unusable because we packed and removed everything from the kitchen in preparation for the work and even bought appliances and cabinets that we wont be able to install for god knows how long until we find a new builder. As I say, completely unreliable and unprofessional! Use at your own risk. COMPLETE COWBOYS!
